Our Teachers Are Dedicated
Fairhill teachers are dedicated to the school and community! Our commitment to our students is what drives the inclusive culture. Fairhill has three former students who now work at the school as teachers. They are Crystal Cunje, Kindergarten, Paul-Jing Yu, 6th Grade, and Marie Barnett, Special Education.
Outstanding Inclusion School
The Fairfax County Special Education Parent Teacher Association (SEPTA) honored Fairhill as an Outstanding Inclusion School for working to ensure that students with disabilities can learn alongside their peers.
Fairhill is Closing Gaps
Fairhill was recognized as a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education for the school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.
Academic Excellence
Fairhill outperformed state and FCPS pass rates on 2023-24 Standards of Learning (SOL) exams in reading, math, and science.
Students Love Being Here
Fairhill’s chronic absenteeism rate in the 2023-24 school was less than 5%, down from over 12% in the 2022-23 school year.
Fairhill Welcomes Military Families
Fairhill has been designated as a Purple Star School by the Virginia Department of Education and the Virginia Council on the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children for our dedication to helping and supporting military-connected students and their families.
Clubs for Everyone
Fairhill holds before and after school clubs. Students can choose from a variety of clubs such as soccer, coding, chess, and art. There’s something for all students to enjoy. Through our Lego Robotics Club, our Fairhill Young Scholars have an exciting opportunity to bring their love for legos, creating, and building to life while they learn about coding and robotics. Lego Robotics Club fosters creativity, collaboration, and problem solving skills in our young engineers!
Focused on Future Success
Fairhill holds an annual Career Day with many employers representing a wide range of occupations, such as a ballet instructor, plumber, architect, and a pilot. Students are able to engage, ask questions, and learn more about potential career pathways as they chart their course through their time at Fairhill and as they prepare for college and careers.
Friends of Trees Award
Fairhill received the Friends of Trees Award from Fairfax County for exceptional, outstanding, and innovative conservation-based tree actions. In 2023, Fairhill finished a four-phase planting of 32 trees, and a Community Garden Day is held each spring and fall to maintain the school grounds and plant the trees.
Connections to Community
Fairhill holds monthly community events such as a Fall Festival, bingo, Garden Day in the spring, and PTA Basketball, as well as an annual Storybook Parade where students and staff members dress up as their favorite literary characters, and a Cultural Heritage Celebration.
