Attendance Procedures
Submit an absence using one of these three methods.
- ParentVUE
- Beginning in the 24-25 school year, families can submit full-day absences using ParentVUE. Learn more about attendance reporting through ParentVUE.
- 703-208-8181
- [email protected]
When reporting a student's absence, please be specific about why your student will not attend school today.
- If reporting an ill student, include symptoms, especially if they have a fever, nausea, vomiting, sore throat, and/or cough. If your student has a diagnosis from a healthcare provider, please include that information.
When you know in advance about an absence, please complete the Request for Prearranged Absence Form.
Attendance
- Absences or tardiness should be reported by 9:15 am.
- Students who are not in their classrooms by 9:15 am are considered late and must report to the office before going to their classrooms.
- Virginia State Law and the Fairfax County School Board Policy require accurate reporting of absences. Therefore, when an absence is not accounted for in advance or does not qualify as excused, the Automated Attendance Notification System will call and e-mail parents.
Excused Absences and Late Arrivals
- Absences and late arrivals are excused in situations of illness, death in the immediate family, medical or dental appointments, or observance of a religious holiday.
Unexcused Absences and Late Arrivals
- Absences and late arrivals are unexcused in situations of family trips, childcare conflicts, oversleeping, non-school related activities, traffic, missed buses, etc.
